What is SmartMeds 

SmartMeds is an AI-powered feature in Healthbridge Clinical that streamlines medication selection by identifying patterns and trends based on your prescribing history. It pre-populates regularly used medications, displays pricing, frequent dosages, and available generics, and validates items against the medical aid formulary.

Note: Smart Medication also ensures that medications listed and populated adhere to the ATC(Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical) classification system. This will ensure that when generics are populated it is as distinct as possible.

How to use smart Medications 

SmartMeds can be accessed during a consultation under the 'Medication' tab.

Once you have searched for the medicine item you require for your patient, the 'Medicine Options' window will appear.

1. 'Select Brand'- see the most commonly used brand of medicine by you and other doctors like you
2. 'Select Medicine' - review the items in the most frequently used forms and strengths.
3. 'Select Dosage'- refers to the most frequently used dosage of the medicine item by you and other doctors like you.

SmartMeds and Medical Scheme Formulary

Medical scheme formularies are a list of safe and effective medicines that can be prescribed to treat certain conditions and which will be fully covered for patients. “SmartMeds”  will indicate these items with an ‘F’,  and will display specific conditions that apply.
